✺ Frequently asked questions ✺

This course is designed for the beginning letterer, though it will be helpful for anyone who wants to brush up on their layout, spacing, and design fundamentals. Especially those who want to take a break from the iPad or computer!
-
This is a fully analog materials-based course. We are using pencils, paper, and ink. Though I appreciate the convenience of iPads (I use mine all the time!), there is simply no better way than to learn the muscle memory of drawing your own layouts and letterforms. Your posture, hand, and arm movements are integral to learning this skill.
-
Not necessarily, but it is definitely helpful to print out the exercise sheets from each section. If you don’t have one, I suggest visiting your local library, a copy/print center, or asking a friend.
-
As you progress through the course, I hope you DO have questions! If something isn’t making sense or you need clarification, I’m available by email. Please be sure to include “Hand Lettering 101” somewhere in the subject line. My email is meg [at] paintedladysignco [dot] com.

There are five sections, and short videos in each. Most of the time will be you practicing what we learned, so it’s really impossible to say. The intention is that you will watch a few sections and spend most of the time on the exercises, so this is totally up to you.
